SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
The Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, on Thursday, held a joint meeting with the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdel Salam Homaid, the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Zaouri, and the Minister of Civil Service, Dr. Abdel Nasser Al-Wali, to discuss organizing the movement of heavy land transport in the port of Aden.
The meeting, attended by representatives of the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, discussed the common responsibilities and specializations between the Land Transport Authority and the Heavy Transport Syndicate, and resolved the overlap of trade union work with the powers of the authority.
The Minister of Transport pointed to the strategic role of the port of Aden as the lifeline for the flow of commercial traffic of all goods, services, and relief and humanitarian materials for the capital, Aden, and the liberated governorates.
Homaid warned that failure to address the problems in front of the port’s precincts may negatively affect the international requirements of the International Maritime Organization and attract foreign investments, calling for the concerned authorities to give full care to address and avoid existing problems.
For his part, Lamlas said that the importance of the port of Aden necessitates everyone to work as one team and address the challenges associated with operating the port.
The meeting decided to form a joint committee of the parties of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, Social and Legal Affairs, trade unions and trade unions to develop an appropriate mechanism to address the problems and define the roles assigned to the various concerned authorities.
