A meeting in Aden the capital discusses UNICEF projects and programs over past year and priorities for upcoming projects

A meeting held in the capital, Aden, chaired by Deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Nizar Basuhaib, discussed a review of UNICEF’s completed projects and activities over the past year and priorities for upcoming projects. The meeting aims to extend UNICEF’s Country Document for Projects for the years 2025-2026.
The meeting, which included specialists from the Ministries of Planning and International Cooperation and representatives from relevant ministries, along with UNICEF’s Deputy Resident Representative in Yemen, Mizuo Nemoto, and program representatives, reviewed the organization’s most prominent projects and programs implemented in the areas of nutrition, health, water and sanitation, child protection, social protection, awareness-raising and behavior change, and gender.
The Deputy Minister of Planning explained that reviewing the progress of project implementation, assessing their tangible impact on the target groups, and their sustainability within society strengthens the existing partnership between the two sides. He emphasized the need to prioritize childhood, motherhood, and special needs programs in the organization’s upcoming plans, in order to improve the services provided to them more effectively.
For his part, the Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Yemen indicated that the meeting aims to learn about the progress made between the organization and the Yemeni government and how to work together to achieve positive results in supporting the most vulnerable groups, as well as improving the developmental and humanitarian impact of projects implemented in country.
