Aden celebrates National Environment Day under slogan “Together we protect our reserves for a sustainable environment”

The General Authority for Environmental Protection, in cooperation with the Ministry of Water and Environment, organized on Thursday, the National Environment Day events in the capital, Aden, under the slogan “Together we protect our reserves for a sustainable environment”.
The event was sponsored by the Minister of Water and Environment Tawfiq Al-Sharjabi, and the Minister of State and Governor of Aden Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, with the attendance of Aden chamber of commerce, and wide participation of officials and those interested in environmental affairs.
The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Salem Salman Al-Wali, and the Undersecretaries of the Ministries of Water and Environment and Industry and Trade, in addition to the Undersecretary of Aden Governorate Abdul Hakim Al-Shaabi, and the Deputy Director General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, Eng. Ashraf Khanbari.
During his speech, Deputy Minister Salem Salman stressed the readiness of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to support the efforts of the General Authority for Environmental Protection in reducing environmental risks, pointing to the importance of coordination between the relevant authorities to confront the environmental challenges that threaten biodiversity and natural resources.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Water and Environment, Abdul Hakim Alaya, stressed the importance of the environmental and climatic diversity that the country enjoys, pointing to the major challenges facing the Yemeni environment, including desertification, climate change and the overexploitation of natural resources. He called for the need for concerted efforts by the government, civil society and individuals to assume their responsibilities in preserving the environment and ensuring its sustainability.
The Chairman of the General Authority for Environmental Protection, Eng. Faisal Al-Tha’labi, in his speech, also pointed out that this occasion reminds everyone of their responsibilities towards the environment and natural resources, stressing the importance of spreading environmental awareness and promoting environmental culture among members of society.
In turn, the Undersecretary of Aden Governorate, Abdul Hakim Al-Sha’bi, stressed the local authority’s keenness to support policies that enhance environmental sustainability and spread community awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy and safe environment.
For his part, the deputy general director of Aaden chamber of commerce, Eng. Ashraf Khanbari pointed to the great role played by the privet sector in dealing with the environment crisis, stressing the importance of support and encourage this role of the privet sector by the government institutions.
The event witnessed inaugurating a photo gallery for paintings of schools students that reflect the importance of environment and keeping it and its reserves.
At the end of the event, the officials honored the supporting and contributing parties to the efforts of the General Authority for Environmental Protection with shields of thanks in appreciation of their efforts in supporting environmental work and preserving natural resources.
