Aden Chamber of Commerce and Industry celebrates its 138th anniversary

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital, Aden, organized a speech ceremony on the occasion of the 138th anniversary of the founding of the Chamber of Commerce in Aden, which falls on August 26, 1886.
At the opening of the founding anniversary ceremony, Mr. Abu Bakr Ba’obaid, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Aden, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, reviewing the journey of the Aden Chamber of Commerce, as the Chamber was the first to bear the responsibility of working to organize the work of the private sector and coordinate with the relevant authorities and bodies and the successive achievements it has achieved over 138 years, pointing to the modernization work that the Chamber’s leadership is currently seeking to keep pace with the developments of the era, including the establishment of the new building and the introduction of the digitization system in the work of the Chamber’s departments, archiving, documentation, consulting, coordination, capacity building, and others, expressing his hope that the next stage will witness an investment expansion that includes investment in the vast and promising industrial sector with a prosperous future for the city of Aden and the country in general.
At the ceremony, Minister of Industry and Trade Mohammed Al-Ashwal delivered a speech in which he praised the long-standing historical role of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which was established in the city of Aden, Aden of history and civilization before many countries knew chambers of commerce and to be an incubator for commercial and investment work throughout the different stages of history. Al-Ashwal called for the return of national capital and businessmen to invest in the city of Aden and contribute to reviving industry and trade there, stressing that the ministry and the relevant authorities will provide all care and facilities to move towards industrial investment and commercial expansion so that Aden can regain its brilliant pioneering role as the third most important port in the world. For his part, the Deputy Governor of Aden Governorate and Secretary General of the Local Council, Badr Moa’oun Saeed, pointed out in his speech the importance of the prominent role played by the Aden Chamber of Commerce in all the turns that the country has gone through in general and the city of Aden in particular and in serving the country and citizens, as it represented a link between businessmen and the authorities in place in the various historical eras that have passed in the city of Aden, which makes the Aden Chamber of Commerce a source of pride and honor for what it possesses of ample achievements throughout its long journey and what it has produced in terms of expertise and competencies in commercial and administrative work, stressing the support of the local authority for all the tremendous efforts made by the chamber in order to advance the role of the private sector and contribute to building the present and future of the city of Aden and achieving comprehensive development in all fields. At the ceremony, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Counselor Salem Salman Al-Wali, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Mohammed Ba Najah, Chairman of the General Investment Authority Ali Ahmed Garhoum, Badr Basalma, Advisor to the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Khaled Al-Jaimlani, Deputy Governor of Aden, His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Trade, Deputy Governor of Aden and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, speeches were given about civil society organizations by Dr. Mohammed Hamoud, Director General of Social Affairs, and a speech about the honorees by Sheikh Salem Al-Saadi. A speech was given about businesswomen. At the founding ceremony of the Aden Chamber, a documentary report was presented by Engineer Ashraf Khanbari, Deputy Director General of the Chamber, in which he discussed the various historical stages of the journey of giving and achievement of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the city of Aden, which embodied the ancient history of the Aden Chamber and its future ambitions. The ceremony also witnessed the launch of the official website of the Chamber of Commerce in Aden. At the end of the ceremony, a group of the first generation of the Chamber and business figures who worked in the Chamber of Commerce in Aden were honored in recognition and appreciation of their pioneering role in contributing to developing the performance and services of the Aden Chamber and advancing the reality of the private sector activity in the city. The speech and honoring ceremony was attended by a number of businessmen, officials, the team of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden and others.
