Aden Chamber of Commerce participates with Customs in an awareness workshop for commercial community on Post Clearance Audit

Aden Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with the Customs Authority, participated in the awareness workshop for the business community on Post Clearance Audit (PCA) within the activities of the Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Program (ERLP) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with the participation of stakeholders from economic operators, members of the business community and the private sector in Aden, representatives of the Customs Authority, and advisors to the Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Program and the USAID project.
In the workshop in which attended by Eng. Ashraf Khanbari – Vice General Manager of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden, the President of the Customs Authority, Mr. Abdul Hakim Al-Qubati, delivered a speech at the opening of the workshop expressing his happiness of holding this workshop, which falls within the plan of the customs authority to facilitate merchants’ goods release through the economic recovery program and reflects the Authority’s interest in developing and updating its procedures to enhance the relationship and partnership between the customs sector and the commercial sector, expressing his pride in what is being implemented by the Authority and its staff to facilitate commercial transactions.
During his speech, Al-Qubati referred to the relationship between the Customs Authority and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Aden and the effective and joint role of both as one team, expressing his appreciation for the efforts made by the Chamber of Commerce and its leadership to serve the commercial sector.
For his part, Eng. Ashraf Khanbari spoke about the importance of the Customs Authority taking measures to facilitate merchants’ goods release at various ports, praising everything that is done in this regard, expressing the Chamber of Commerce’s appreciation for every measure that facilitates merchants’ procedures.
In the workshop, Mr. Abdul Wahab Al-Aoudi – Head of the Trade Facilitation Team of ERLP, delivered a speech in which he spoke about the Economic Operator Program, explaining its importance and the customs advantages it contains for merchants that work to save time, effort, and money during their dealings at customs, which reflects the program’s concern for the public interest associated with promoting development and facilitating trade. .
The workshop included an explanation from British expert Nigel Moore – a consultant for the Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Program (ERLP) – about the importance of the partnership approach between customs and the commercial community, in which he also provided clarifications about the auditing processes after customs clearance and their importance to companies and the customs authority.
It is worth noting that this workshop aims to raise the awareness of representatives of the trading community, including importers, exporters and customs brokers, about Post Clearance Audit (PCA) and provide comprehensive information about it, how it works, and its importance in simplifying customs procedures, facilitating trade, and enhancing compliance within the framework of the Economic Recovery and Livelihoods Program (ERLP).
