Aden Health Office Meeting Discusses Mechanism for Regulating Pricing of Medicines and Medical Supplies in the Governorate

The Public Health and Population Office in the capital, Aden, held a meeting at the Health Office building in the governorate with the directors of private medical facilities, pharmaceutical affairs, medical supplies, hospitals, and health offices in the districts to discuss the mechanism for regulating the pricing of medicines and medical supplies in the governorate. The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Therapeutic Medicine Sector, Dr. Shawqi Al-Sharjabi, and the Director General of the Health Office in the capital, Aden, Dr. Ahmed Muthanna Al-Bishi.

The meeting, which included the Deputy Director General of the Health Office in Aden, Dr. Tariq Al-Shaabi, and a number of health sector officials in the governorate, focused on developments in the economic situation and the current improvement in the decline in the exchange rate of foreign currencies against the Yemeni riyal, which is positively impacting citizens by reducing the prices of medicines and medical supplies.

The meeting emphasized the continuation of field inspection and control teams in all directorates of hospitals, pharmacies, and medical facilities to monitor compliance with the price reductions approved by the Supreme Authority for Medicines and Medical Supplies. This will contribute to alleviating the burden and suffering of citizens and ensuring the provision of medicines at reasonable and appropriate prices.

The meeting emphasized redoubling efforts in inspection campaigns to combat manipulation and monopoly and taking strict and legal action against violators for failure to comply with price reductions.
