SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
The Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Saleh Humaid, visited the container terminal in the port of the capital, Aden, on Wednesday, to review the progress of unloading and handling operations across the port’s docks and the status of container storage yards.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation, Dr. Mohammed Alawi Amzarba, briefed minister Humaid on the working mechanism of the port and the extent of its readiness to receive ships and vessels, and its ability to work in various climatic conditions, due to its strategic location.

The Minister was keen to inspect the progress of work at the station after transferring the inspection of ships to the port of Aden, revealing that 12 ships were received last December, and 14 in January of this year, in light of expectations of an increase in the number of shipping lines.

He said that the port of Aden has the technical equipment, supervision and follow-up on the flow of navigational traffic, pointing to measures to provide benefits and facilities to visitors and dealers with the port, to improve commercial activity, following the decision of President Aidaroos Al-Zubaidi, Vice President of the Leadership Council, President of the Southern Transitional Council, to remove illegal points and scales within the port and on transportation lines between the southern governorates.

He expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the port employees, pointing out that the attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea greatly affected the movement of commercial ships in international sea lanes.
