[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Shabwa – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Salem Thabe Al-Awalki, official spokesman of the southern transitional council, sent a clear and significant message to Mr. Martin Griffith, UN Envoy to Yemen, about the significance of the southern cause to support peace process in Yemen.
In a public celebration of the 51st anniversary of National Independence, held in Shabwa, Al-Awalki talked about the efforts of the council during the previous period through meetings with the office of UN Envoy to Yemen and other ambassadors of countries concerned with Yemen. He indicated that the last tour of Sheikh Hany Ben Brik, vice president of the council, in several EU countries and his meetings with official and non-official bodies came in this context.
Al-Awalaki asserted that the council refuses to participate in negotiations only for mere participation as the council expects that active participation will put the southern cause in its right political path towards achieving its rightful goals. He added that the council’s leaders who sacrificed their official positions for the sake of the southern cause will never compromise the people’s expectations, hopes and public delegation to represent the southern people nationally and internationally.
Addressing UN Envoy to Yemen, Al-Awalki said: ” No Peace Without Enforcing the Southern Will in Self-Determination” in a clear reference to the fact that peace process in Yemen will never succeed unless the southern cause receives a rightful solution that fulfills the expectations of the southern people.
Al-Awalki also appreciated the role of Shabwa Elites Troops and joint security forces of the army and security systems for their efforts in coordinating their work in the security file. He aqlso appreciated the role of the Arab Coalition led by Saudi Arabia and UAE who supported these troops during the stages of liberation and empowerment. He added: “We expect the south to be part of our Arab surrounding in full harmony and coherence”. He also confirmed full support of the council for the Arab Coalition efforts in defeating the Iranian project and its militias and securing the region with its naval paths and national security from any danger.
He also asserted that he was honored to meet these crowds and participated with them in this event indicating that Shabwa was always first in refusing and resenting all types of oppression. He also warned the dark forces from trying to isolate Shabwa from its national cause or dismantle it to be adjoined later in smaller projects asserting that public will is the only determinative force.
