[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Follow-ups [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Salem Thabet Al-Awlaki, official spokesman of the southern transitional council, said that any solution that overcomes the south or adjoins its cause to a non-southern political project “will not lead to any sustainable solutions” indicating that their road map is “clear and leads only to establishing an independent democratic state”. he added that “the south today is not the south before 2015 and our people will never accept any disparagement of our revolution and our resistance”. This came as part of his interview with EREM News. SMA News Publishes the following translation of the interview.
Q1: What are the outcomes of recent meetings between the Southern Transitional Council and UN Envoy to Yemen?
A: During the visit of negotiation commission to Amman – Jordan, they held several meetings with UN envoy, his deputy and his consultants, as part of the council’s support to UN envoy’s role and to assert the council’s openness and willingness to participate in any upcoming consultations or negotiations as a major, not marginal, partner. Meetings were positive and constructive and it will be resumed during the next few weeks. For sure, at the council, we are carrying the southern cause that can not be overcome in any settlements or negotiations. Accordingly, we are willing to go to the end of the world if this will grant our people their right of self-determination and establishing a civil federal sovereign state.
Q2: Will the council participate in upcoming consultations?
A: UN Envoy is eager to involve the council in any upcoming negotiations or consultations but we still insist on participating as a major partner, not a formal participate that provides other parties’ agreements with legitimacy. We should discuss the form and details of participation as we reject participation for mere participation. Instead, we insist on positive participation to achieve our people’s expectations of independence and to establish permanent peace in the region.
Q3: You said that overcoming the southern cause contradicts with current political situation in the south. What do you mean by that?
A: we asserted, and still do, that overcoming the south and adjoining its cause to any non-southern political project will never lead to sustainable solutions as the south now is not the south before 2015. Our people will never accept any disparagement of our revolution and our resistance. Therefore, we said, and will say it again, that any negotiations that overcome all this will fail.
Q4: As for the recently launched southern-southern dialogue, did you find any rejection from some parties? What were their terms and conditions?
A: The dialogue is continuing according to its planned path, we were not notified by any rejection till now. Nevertheless, it should be clear that any project similar to counter-projects rejecting the southern cause will have no weight even if their carriers are southern. There is no way to penetrate our cause by southern elements loyal to 1994 occupation regimen that used southern elements as a front line to achieve what his northern elements could not achieve directly. Southern martyrs are watching us every night from heavens to see where did we reach. They will never forgive us for missing up their cause without any justifications.
Q5: Was the decision of dismissing Ben Daghar and Filing him to interrogation a major purpose of the council?
A: corruption is not a person. Instead, it is a system and our demands are clear. We demand to stop corruption and empower southern citizens to run their south. This will never change even if a government or a prime minister were replaced. Our purpose is the whole south run by his sons towards independence and establishing a federal independent state. Tactical stages target improving good services. This is a top priority of any government, regardless of our opinion in it. Improving its performance is a duty and this doesn’t mean to dismiss the whole cause. This government is not ours and we are going on to get rid of this temporary unusual situation that stim from the war and what before. But this is not an issue to discuss right now.
Q6: Was Ben Daghar dismissed according to a deal with you as some said?
A: Escalation against governmental corruption that led to full collapse of economic, services and daily life conditions is a preliminary issue that can never be compromised or dismissed as it affects the dignity of a dignified people who started suffering hunger while governmental officials are getting richer from war. Any step taken targeted stopping governmental corruption first and decrease the people’s suffering from the collapse of economic, services and security sectors.
Q7: What are your plans for the current stage?
A: We can talk about two paths: The political path where we are exerting effort for the south and the improvement path through exerting more pressure so that the current stage is run effectively through a war or emergency government that should assume its phasic role professionally without using the resources and procedures to practice a political role against the free will of the southern people. What was forbidden for these powers before 2015 war will never be allowed now after the sacrifices of the southern people and resistance.
Q8: Do you have any communication channels with the new prime minister?
A: We don’t communicate with him at any level but we hope he may avoid political maneuvers of his predecessor as his role is administrative and he should know the difference between roles of a prime minister and a political party leader. If he did so, he will succeed in his mission. As I said before, we are against any miss with our people or its administration. We are with improving services as the political path is not the job of the current government. This what led Ben Daghar to coliid with the southern people leading him to be dismissed.
Q9: Finally, how is your relations with the countries of the Arab Coalition? Are there any promises about the future of the south?
A: We are partners not followers. The future of the south is determined by the free southern people. Considering changes after 2015, the south today is stronger in the political equation. We consider the role of other countries, especially the Gulf states, as significant to support the future of the south. What joins us with them is joint destiny. Our people expressed his rejection of threatening the region’s future and security. This is why we are in harmony with our brothers in the Gulf states. Our road map is clear and leads only to a democratic independent federal state.
