Al-Bidh and Al-Ghaithi of Transitional Council meet 6 European Union delegations

Mr. Amr Al-Bidh; member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, and Mr. Mohammad Al-Ghaithi, Deputy Head of the General Directorate for Foreign Affairs of the Council, met on Monday evening in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi with a group of delegations of the European Union countries, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland.

Al-Bidh and Al-Ghaithi stressed during the meeting that the visit of the European Union ambassadors to the capital, Aden, confirms the European friends’ keenness to support joint efforts to normalize the situation, in addition to that it represents real support for the equal government between the south and the north, which came according to the Riyadh Agreement between the Southern Transitional Council and the Yemeni government.

Al-Bidh and Al-Ghaithi stressed the importance of the Riyadh Agreement and the opportunity it represents towards the stability of the situation and the return of public services, and the creation of the appropriate climate for a comprehensive peace process, stressing the need to complete the implementation of its provisions, and stressing at the same time the need for a comprehensive political process in which the Southern Transitional Council is a key party to ensure its success and reflection of the reality and facts on the ground, and the UN experience over the past years in the south and Yemen.

They reaffirmed the Southern Transitional Council’s adherence to the goals and aspirations of the southern people, on top of which is the restoration of its full sovereignty state over the borders of May 21, 1990, through negotiations sponsored by the United Nations.

For their part, representatives of the European Union countries affirmed their support for the efforts of the Special Envoy, Mr. Martin Griffiths, towards finding lasting peace through a comprehensive political process that includes ending the war, addressing its effects and addressing the existing issues.
