Al-Bidh and Al-Halimi meet UN envoy Hans Grundberg

The members of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Amr Ali Al-Bidh, Special Representative of the President of the Southern Transitional Council for Foreign Affairs, and Murad Al-Halimi, head of the external dialogue team, met on Thursday, in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, with the envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Hans Grundberg.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in the South and Yemen, and the international role to contribute in establishing sustainable peace and restoring security and stability to the region.

During the meeting, Al-Bidh reiterated the Southern Transitional Council’s support for the efforts of the UN envoy aimed at reaching to a comprehensive and unconditional peace process, and the importance of the Southern Transitional Council’s participation in designing and approving the process in all its stages.

Al-Bidh also stressed the need to pay the required attention to the deteriorating economic situation, and called on the government of power-sharing to assume its responsibilities in providing services and implementing the economic part of the Riyadh Agreement.

For his part, the UN envoy stressed the need to reach to a sustainable solution to the crisis through a comprehensive political process, noting in the context that the United Nations is concerned with the economic situation and keen to end the conflict.
