Al-Ghaithi and USA ambassador agree on the speedy resolution of urgent issues

The Chairman of the Consultation Commission, Mohammed Al-Ghaithi, on Thursday, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United States of America, Stephen Fagin, and Director of the Political and Economic Department at the Embassy, Chris Coles.

In the meeting, the two sides reviewed the situation in our country and the nature of the work and tasks of the Commission.

Al-Ghaithi referred to the Commission’s efforts to support the Presidential Leadership Council, in order to unify visions, and opportunities to develop principles of reconciliation and create conditions for a comprehensive political process.

Al-Ghaithi stressed that the extremely complex stage requires joint efforts from the international and regional community, in addition to the Leadership Council, to face the current challenges, especially the economic and humanitarian needs.

The two sides stressed the speedy settlement of major issues and finding clear resolution mechanisms, foremost of which is the issue of the people of the South.

They also agreed on the presence of state institutions on the ground to secure public services.

For his part, the US ambassador expressed the United States’ support for the Presidential Leadership Council, and his country’s support for a comprehensive peace through a political process led by the United Nations.
