Al-Jaadi meets the British ambassador in Aden the capital

Mr. Fadel Al-Jaadi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, received on Tuesday, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council in the capital, Aden, the British Ambassador to Yemen, Mr. Richard Oppenheim, who is visiting the capital, Aden, for the first time since his appointment as ambassador to his country.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the political and economic conditions, and ways and mechanisms for coordinating efforts within the framework of the government of power-sharing to enable it to carry out its duties in improving the economic conditions and restoring stability in the governorates of the South and the liberated areas.

In this context, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom stressed the importance of joint work to rebuild and revitalize state institutions, revive economic resources and carry out deep reforms in economic institutions to help restoring the role of these institutions in advancing the economic situation in the country, stressing his country’s support for the government’s efforts to revive the economy and rebuilding.

Ambassador Oppenheim noted the importance of completing the implementation of the Riyadh Agreement, as it is an entry point for a comprehensive political process to end the conflict in Yemen, stressing that the peace-sponsoring countries are keen on the participation of all actors on the ground, led by the Southern Transitional Council, in the comprehensive political process to reach lasting peace.

For his part, the Deputy Secretary-General welcomed Ambassador Oppenheim and his team, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the United Kingdom to restore stability and push for a comprehensive political process that ends the war and establishes sustainable peace in the region, praising in the context the historical relations that bind our people in the South and the friendly British people.

The Deputy Secretary-General stressed the keenness of the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council to ensure the success of the efforts of the power-sharing government, to protect it and to overcome any difficulties it faces, stressing the importance of the presence of the government with all its members to carry out its tasks from the capital, Aden.

The Deputy Secretary-General noted the importance of the government obtaining regional and international support to enable it to revive the deteriorating economic situation, improve the living conditions of citizens, and start the process of rebuilding and rehabilitating government institutions and activating them.

The Deputy Secretary-General pointed to the great efforts made by the leadership of the Transitional Council to restore stability to the south and the liberated areas and to unify efforts to confront the Houthi militias on various fronts.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Suhair Ali Ahmed, member of the Council’s Presidency, Brigadier Kamal Hamshary, Director of the Office of the President of the Council, Eng. Mohammed Al-Abadi, Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs of the Council, and Ali Al-Hadayani, Press and Media Secretary to the President of the Council.
