Al-Kathiri and Al-Beidh Meet with Ambassadors of EU and Germany

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, member of Presidium of the STC, its Official Spokesperson and Deputy head of the Negotiations Unit, and Mr. Amr Ali Al-Beidh, member of Presidium of the STC and Special Representative of the president Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi for Foreign Affairs, met, on Tuesday, in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, with the European Union Ambassador to Yemen, Mr. Gabriel Monera Viñales, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Yemen, Mr. Hubert Jaeger.

The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the South and Yemen, in general, in light of the international endeavours to attain a final solution to the conflict and to reach a settlement that guarantees sustainable peace and security for the country and the entire region.

At the meeting, Mr. Al-Kathiri and Mr. Al-Beidh affirmed the STC’s support for the UN-mediated truce because of its importance in addressing the economic conditions and alleviating the suffering of the people, highlighting the necessity to get solutions to the humanitarian situation and provide basic service to citizens.

The two members of the Presidium of the STC affirmed the importance of the cohesion of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC). At the same time, they have stressed the necessity to withdraw the Yemeni military forces in the Valley of Hadhramaut to the frontlines with the Houthi militias in accordance with al-Riyadh Agreement to pave the way for the security forces to properly perform their duty to combat terrorism.

In turn, Ambassadors Viñales and Jaeger stressed the importance of the PLC’s cohesiveness, affirming their support for the endeavours of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen to end the war and reach a final and comprehensive political solution to the crisis.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Philipp Schönbrunn-Knappmann. Deputy Head of Middle East Department, Yemen Team leader-German Foreign Office, and members of the General Directorate for Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the STC, Mr. Nabil Ben La’sm, and Mr. Abdullah Awad.
