Al-Kathiri Gets Briefed on Workflow of the Maritime Affairs Authority

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, met today, Tuesday, with Captain Yeslam Mubarak Salem, Deputy Executive Chairman of the Maritime Affairs Authority.
During the meeting, Mr. Al-Kathiri was briefed on the Authority’s work progress, its competencies in protecting ships in coordination with the Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC) and the Djibouti Code of Conduct (DCoC), and the efforts made in the areas of regulating the safety and security of maritime navigation, combating environmental pollution, providing guidance and supervisory services and activities for ships in ports, and developing appropriate solutions to problems related to it.
The Acting President of the STC praised the Authority’s achievements, which were fulfilled despite the difficult circumstances, and urged them to redouble efforts to assume a great sovereign role in its field.
Al-Kathiri affirmed the readiness of the STC, headed by President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, to provide the required support to the Authority, to raise the pace of its work, and to contribute to protecting ships and international shipping lanes in light of the escalation of Houthi terrorist attacks that negatively affect the movement of ships in these vital international maritime lanes.
