Al-Kathiri Meets with Deputy Minister of Water and Environment and Stresses Importance of Integrated Efforts to Address Challenges

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Acting President of the Southern Transitional Council and Speaker of the National Assembly, met on Sunday, in his office in the capital, Aden, with Mr. Mujahid bin Afrar, Deputy Minister of Water and Environment.

At the beginning of the meeting, which was attended by Nasr Harhara, Rapporteur of the National Assembly, Al-Kathiri congratulated the Deputy Minister on gaining the confidence of the political leadership, wishing him success in carrying out his duties. He emphasized that the current phase requires redoubling efforts and working in a team spirit to address the challenges facing the country.

Al-Kathiri emphasized the need to enhance coordination between the Ministry and its various sectors, as well as with international organizations and relevant parties, to ensure optimal utilization of grants and projects in the fields of water and environment, to contribute to addressing the accumulated environmental problems.

For his part, Mujahid bin Afrar gave a brief presentation on the ministry’s structure and the nature of its tasks, along with the most prominent challenges it faces under the current circumstances. He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council for its continued support, appreciating its constant commitment to strengthening environmental protection efforts and improving the performance of the environmental sector in the liberated governorates, serving the interests of citizens and promoting sustainable development.
