Al-Kathiri on Ramadan Evening in Al-Mukalla: Riyadh Consultations Made Drastic Change in Legitimacy

The local leadership executive body of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Hadhramaut Governorate, in the hall of Martyrs of the South, organized, on Thursday night, a Ramadan evening, in which Mr. Ali Abdullah Al Kathiri, member of the presidency of the STC, deputy head of the Negotiations Unit, head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), spoke on the results of Riyadh consultations, and required tasks in the new stage after the success in that consultations and the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council.

Mr. Al-Kathiri, in the meeting, which was attended by Brigadier General Ahmed Mohammed Ba’alem, member of the Presidency of the STC, Brigadier General Saeed Ahmad al-Mohammadi, head of the local leadership executive body in the governorate, his deputy head for Universities Coordination Affairs, Dr. Mubarak bin Sumaida, a large number of members of the National Assembly, local leadership of the executive bodies, political and social figures in the governorate, figured on the gains that people of the South have achieved from these consultations.

Al-Kathiri indicated that the consultations agreed that the issue of people of the South will have a specific framework in the upcoming comprehensive negotiations, in addition to bringing about a fundamental change in the body of legitimacy, so the STC has became a partner in it, emphasizing the current affairs constitute a serious and new beginning, in interest of the forces opposing the Houthis’ project.

Al-Kathiri noted that the STC’s delegation engaged in a difficult political battle, and firmly presented the issue of people of the South in the various committees that were formed to discuss the political, economic, security, military, social, relief and media axes of negotiations.

Al-Kathiri explained that the consultations called by the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the States of the Arab Gulf (GCC), and sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, aimed to reunite the anti-Houthi resistance and strengthen its frontlines, through discussing challenges and available solutions.

Al-Kathiri pointed out that the stage, in post-constitutional oath, is characterized by cooperation and unifying efforts of the various forces constituting the legitimacy, either for a comprehensive peace process, or for going to war, if the Houthis have rejected peace.

Al-Kathiri reiterated that the Presidential Leadership Council backed by the leadership of the Arab coalition, prefer the option of peace, but they are ready to go to war if it is imposed on them, noting that the battle at this time will completely be different from its previous ones, due to unifying efforts of the forces opposing the Iranian Houthi project.

Al-Kathiri stressed the need to enhance the process of awareness among citizens, that this stage is a constructive, and a road map towards the final solution, calling for commitment to a sedate media discourse antagonizes nobody.

Al-Kathiri indicated that the Presidential Leadership Council is exerting immense efforts to make fundamental changes, to complete implementing Riyadh Agreement, normalize the situation, and launch the development and reconstruction processes, noting that the economic file is a priority in the STC’s shceduled program and there is a high support from the official brothers in the Arab coalition, and the international community to facilitate its task.

Al-Kathiri warned of what the forces affected by the results of Riyadh consultations are falsely spreading, in which they are trying to agitate people’s feelings, claiming that the STC sacrificed the South cause for the sake of positions, indicating that the participation of the STC was a virtue of necessity, because it is the beginning of a stage during which it can serve people of the South, in alleviating their suffering, achieving stability of living, and launching the investment and development processes.

He stressed that Riyadh consultations are a temporal agreement, and what the STC has proposed was the highest ceiling of demands, and it made one and all realize that the STC will not give up its goals, so its delegation was able to succeed in all axes.

Al Kathiri called on the people of the South, in general, to be prepared for the final stage, by uniting the internal front, rejecting differences, and achieving the principle of reconciliation and tolerance among all political components, stressing that the South will only come with the cooperation of all its people and effective forces.

He pointed out that the president Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, in every occasion, stresses on the leaders of the STC to work hard on South-South dialogue, and Al-Zubaidi himself embodies the role model; when he has transcended all inflicted injuiries, and compassionately opened up his heart and the doors of his office to all.
