Al-Kathiri Receives Country Programme Manager of French MSF

Mr. Ali Abdullah Al-Kathiri, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Acting President of the STC, received on Wednesday, Mr. Marc Schakal, country programme manager of Doctors Without Limits/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), and Ms. Ilaria Rasulo, Deputy Coordinator of the MSF.
The meeting, which was also attended by Brigadier General Kamal Hamshari, Member of the STC’s Presidium and Acting Secretary-General, reviewed the developments on the southern scene and the deterioration in all service sectors, especially the health sector.
The Acting President of the STC praised the great role played by MSF in providing medical and therapeutic services to the wounded and sick and its vital interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital, Aden, and neighboring governorates, expressing his hope that the organization’s work will be extended and its activities expanded to meet the needs of the health sector in the capital, Aden, and other governorates of the South, affirming in this context the readiness of the STC to provide the required facilities for the MSF and other international missions, delegations, and organizations to carry out their humanitarian tasks in the best possible way.
For his part, Mr. Marc Schakal reviewed the nature of the medical and humanitarian work provided by MSF, appreciating the efforts made by the STC and the facilities that have been provided to the organization’s mission to expand its activities in the capital, Aden, and other governorates.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Al-Rabizi, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Advisors, Brigadier General Ahmed Hassan, Head of the Security Department of the STC, Dr. Salem Al-Shabahi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Najib Qayd Faraj, Head of the Department of International Organizations and Human Rights in the Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Authority (FAEA) at the STC; Dr. Aref Muhsen Al-Da’eri, Head of the Supreme Health Insurance Authority for the Southern Armed Forces, and from Doctors Without Limits, Mr. Hani Al-Mulaiji, Deputy Head of MSF.
