Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji received on Wednesday, at his residence in the capital Riyadh, the Swedish Deputy Ambassador, Mr. Eric Salmegrin, and the Senior Official for Political Affairs in the Dutch Mission; Dr. Gihon Ostwar.
In the meeting, Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji stressed on the need for the sponsors of the Riyadh Agreement and the countries supporting the political process in Yemen to take serious and resolute stances regarding the ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement and the successive mobilization operations by the forces affiliated with the Yemeni government, as those forces are directed from Marib towards the south, at a time that the districts of Marib are falling, respectively, in the hands of the Houthi, and it needs to be strengthened instead of directing them to the south.
Dr. Al-Khobaji noted that the Transitional Council had previously submitted many letters to the Coalition leadership, warning of the danger of recklessness, violations, and aggressive practices pursued by the Yemeni government forces, and also warned of the danger of terrorist elements that join within those forces, to the future of security and stability in the region, especially since the process of bringing in those extremist elements wastes the great efforts that the Security Belt Forces and the Shabwani Elite Forces have carried out with the support and assistance of the Coalition over the past years, which threatens the return of terrorist activities nearby the international shipping lines in the Gulf of Aden.
Dr. Al-Khobaji stressed that the Transitional Council seeks peace and works for its restoration, and puts the citizens’ needs at the top of its priorities, and cannot accept or tolerate the practices of systematic collective punishment that the successive Yemeni governments have continued to follow.
