Al-Khubaji Discusses Recent Political Developments with Office Acting Director of the UN Envoy in the Capital, Aden

Dr. Nasser Al-Khubaji, Head of the Political Commission (PC) assisting the Presidium of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, received on Tuesday Mr. Brett Scott, Acting Director of the UN Special Envoy Office in the capital, Aden.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Khubaji welcomed Mr. Scott and his team, appreciating all the endeavors exerted by the UN Special Envoy towards reviving the political process, listening to an explanation of the latest meetings held by the envoy’s office with the political parties.

Dr. Al-Khubaji was briefed by Mr. Scott on the most prominent developments related to the peace process, the efforts being made by the UN and regional parties in this regard, and the repercussions of the Houthi militia’s escalation in maritime navigation that targets global trade.

The meeting discussed a range of important issues, files related to the political process, and recent developments regarding the unilateral measures of the Houthi militia to open roads in Al-Dhalea Governorate and the relationship of the United Nations with such developments.

Al-Khubaji highlighted that the opening of ports and crossings, the political process, and the comprehensive solution will only be achieved through an agreement between the two parties and under UN auspices, reiterating the support of the STC for all the UN endeavors that aim to bring peace and normalize people’s lives, calling for a greater effort in coordination, and presenting visions and proposals for solutions that accommodate the developments of reality on the ground.

The head of the PC stressed the importance of UN presence and supervision of the procedures mechanism that aims to open the highways and other roads in the governorates of the South, expressing the need to find a real international guarantee in this regard.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Khaled Bamadhaf, Deputy Head of the PC, and from the Political Bureau of the Envoy’s Office, Mrs. Tumna Ahmed, and Mr. Hadeel Samir.
