Al-Khubaji Discusses with International IDEA Current developments in Comprehensive Political Process

Dr. Nasser Al-Khobaji, Head of the Political Authority and Head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), discussed today, Thursday, in his office in the capital, Aden, the latest developments of the comprehensive political process with the Director of Programs in Africa and West Asia at the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), Mr. Zaid Al-Ali, and the project coordinator in Yemen, Mr. Shaker Badr.
During the meeting, Dr. Al-Khubaji lauded the efforts undertaken by the International IDEA in the region and around the world, reaffirming the positions of the STC in support of democracy, freedom, peace, and human rights.
Al-Khubaji indicated that the outcomes of the Southern National Dialogue and the sixth session of the National Assembly created a national consensus for the cause of the people of the South to be present in the political process through a special negotiating framework by its representative, the STC.
In turn, Mr. Al-Ali gave an explanation of the work and programs of the International IDEA and the response to national initiatives to promote and strengthen the actors that build and protect effective democracies.
Mr. Al-Ali stressed the importance of the participation of the active parties in the political process, foremost of which is the STC, expressing the International IDEA’s readiness to assist in featuring the course of the political process and present suggestions and recommendations to develop sustainable and effective democracies.
