Al-Mahra Youth Unit Association holds workshop on localizing Goal (16) of Sustainable Development Goals funded by Civil Society Platform for Peace Building.

Al-Mahra Youth Unit Association held a workshop on Saturday, in Al-Ghaydah, the capital of Al-Mahra governorate, in partnership with Youth Without Borders Organization for Development and the Civil Coalition for Peace Building, within the framework of Yemen Voice for Peace project “Localizing Goal 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
At the opening of the workshop, which was attended by the Deputy Director General of Social Affairs and Labor in the governorate, Mr. Salem Swailem Salem, and the Executive Director of Al-Mahra Youth Unit Society Mr. Amin Mohammad bin Asam, Swailem referred to the importance of the workshop to employ it in building the capacities of youth leaders to reach the approved level in the development and humanitarian field and keep pace with recent developments for the advancement of society by achieving the sustainable development goals.
Swailem thanked the civil society platform for peace building for funding such development programs in the governorate, appreciating the efforts of Al-Mahra Youth Unit, the Youth Without Borders Organization for Development and the Civil Peace Coalition for implementing this workshop to reach the development that the citizens hope, and to create an integrated constitution that guarantees sustainable development in all its fields. .
On the one hand, the Executive Director of Al-Mahra Youth Unit, Mr. Amin Mohammad bin Assam, explained that the workshop targets a group of leaders of civil society organizations and youth leaders in order to introduce the participants to Goal (16) of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals approved by the United Nations as a summary of the efforts of specialized teams in the United Nations .
Bin Assam stressed the need to develop clear plans and strategies for sustainable development in Yemen and take into account the stages that the country is going through while determining development priorities in order to develop skills to reach development in its true meaning through Goal No. 16 dedicated to encouraging the existence of peaceful and inclusive societies in order to achieve sustainable development on all levels by building effective and accountable institutions.
Bin Assam noted the importance of harnessing the capabilities available to the organizations and harnessing them in the service and advancement of society, as well as contributing to building the nation, pointing to the importance of giving civil society organizations the opportunity to participate in formulating development strategies in the country alongside the government sector and laying down controls to ensure peace, justice and equality for the sake of achieving development in the governorate.
The workshop dealt with introducing the sustainable development goals and mechanisms to localize Goal 16 and the extent of work to achieve it to promote the existence of inclusive and peaceful societies to achieve sustainable development and secure access to justice for all, and build effective comprehensive institutions that can be held accountable at all levels and contribute to the development of society and solve existing problems.
