Al-Muharrami discusses mechanisms to prevent violations of prisoners’ rights

Abdul Rahman Saleh Al-Muharrami, Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council and member of the Presidential Leadership Council, on Tuesday, met Major General Mutahar Al-Shuaibi, Director of Aden Security, and Major General Saleh Abdul Habib, Head of the Prison Service.
The meeting discussed the exceptional security plan for the holy month of Ramadan to enhance stability and maintain public tranquility during the holy month, and coordination efforts between security units and local authorities to accomplish tasks.
Al-Muharrami stressed the rehabilitation of the security staff and infrastructure in the security centers to be able to perform their security tasks, in addition to the conditions of prisoners and pretrial detainees and the extent of the relevant authorities’ compliance with the laws.
The meeting discussed the Prison Service’s procedures for reforming detention centers and rehabilitating prisoners in all reformatories throughout the governorates, and confronting any violations of the rights of prisoners and pretrial detainees.
Al-Muharrami directed to improve prison conditions by benefiting from international experiences, and to work in accordance with international principles and standards to preserve the rights of prisoners, in coordination with various concerned parties.
