Al-Wali Meets ICRC Representatives to Discuss its Activities and Urgent Needs to Interfere

Abd Al-Nasser Al-Wali, member of the southern transitional council’s presidency and chairman of Aden local leadership, and Niran Sawki, member of the council’s presidency, met Mr. Drew Penland, deputy head of ICRC delegation in Aden and his companions on Tuesday August 3rd, 2019 in the council’s headquarters.
Dr. Al-Wali expressed the council’s appreciation of the IRC efforts and its humanitarian missions especially under these extraordinary conditions and the council’s willingness to provide the delegation with proper conditions for its work as the council considers IRC as an active partner in all humanitarian fields.
He also discussed the need that require urgent interference including improvement of water quality in Abian and Lahj to fulfill residents’ needs of fresh water. He also indicated that Al-Razi hospital in Zanzibar needs support in qualifying health care crews and covering shortage in health care workers in all the hospital’s departments.
Al-Wali asserted the importance of coordinating efforts among all organizations to avoid conflicts and guarantee better results.
In turn, ICRC representatives discussed the organization’s efforts in various fields including water pups in addition to maximizing the capabilities of local foundation of water, renewal of old water pipes network in Al-Barzakh station in Khour Maxar and supporting water projects in Lahj and Al-Dhala’a.
They also discussed ICRC efforts and plans in health care public sector, supporting some hospitals and and heath care centers thrugh providing medications to Al-Jumhouria and Ba Suhaib hospitals in Aden, Al-Razi in Abian, Al-Nasr in Al-Dhala’a, Bihan in Shabwa and Saioun in Hadhramaut.
ICRC representatives also referred to the organization’s efforts in other humanitarian issues including first aid training, supporting prisons and dealing with conflicts remains.
Mrs. Mariam Micazi, head of protection department of ICRC, Pamila Udambu, health care guide of ICRC, and Dr. Salem Al-Shubhi, chairman of health care and population committee of the southern national assembly, attended the meeting.
