Al-Yafe’y Receives Chinese Tourists and Promises to Restore Famous Mariner Zheng He Monument

Mr. Mukhtar Al-Yafe’y, Deputy Head of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), received on Wednesday the Chinese tourist delegation visiting the capital, Aden, for the purpose of exploring the memorial of the famous Chinese mariner and explorer Zheng He, who visited the city of Aden more than five times during the historical period from 1413 to 1432 AD.

In the meeting, Mr. Al-Yafe’y warmly welcomed the Chinese delegation, highlighting that the capital, Aden, has been a destination for Arab and international travelers and has enjoyed global importance in navigation and international trade throughout history.

Al-Yafe’y indicated their significant role in conveying the true image of what they have seen on the ground and the high levels of security and stability enjoyed by the capital, Aden, and all the governorates of the South, stressing the need for local companies to actively promote the tourism industry in the governorates of the South.

Al-Yafe’y confirmed that NSMA will reconstruct and restore the monument of the famous Chinese traveler Zheng He on Jazeerat Al-Omaal (Workers’ Island) in Aden in commemoration of the strong friendship between China and the South throughout history.

In turn, the visiting delegation praised the warm reception that they have received from the people of the South in the capital, Aden, and the concerned authorities, including NSMA, and offered gratitude for the initiative of NSMA.
