Authority in Aden the capital mobilizes efforts to combat threat of cholera outbreak

The Deputy Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Badr Moaone, during an expanded meeting that included service offices and a number of international and local organizations, called to raise preparedness to confront the risks of the spread of the cholera epidemic.

Moaone appreciated the response of organizations and service offices to the call of the Governor of Aden the capital, Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, to avoid the dangers of the spread of the cholera epidemic and to preserve the health and safety of citizens in the capital, Aden.

The meeting discussed preparations to confront the risks of the spread of the cholera epidemic, in the presence of representatives of health, epidemiological surveillance, Al-Sadaka Hospital, medical financing, hygiene, planning, education, water and sanitation, information, endowments and guidance, and the World Health Organizations, OCHA, UNEPS, Doctors Without Borders, and MSF, care, and rescue.

The meeting revealed that 460 cases of cholera had been monitored. It also touched on treatment efforts and problems resulting from the shortage of intravenous solutions (RL), (NLS) and irrigation solutions (ORS), in addition to the necessity of opening new reception centers and increasing clinical capacity.

The attendees agreed to raise the readiness of each party to implement its obligations, and to provide support in accordance with the requirements of health authorities and local authorities in the capital, Aden, to limit the spread of the cholera epidemic, strengthen the capabilities of health facilities, and report on the needs of international donor organizations.
