Ben Brik Chairs Assembly’s Administrative Body Meeting

Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), on Wednesday, chaired a periodic meeting of the Administrative Body in the National Assembly, in the presence of lawyer Niran Souqi, Deputy chairperson and member of Presidium of the STC.

At the beginning of the meeting, Major General Ben Brik reviewed the multi-faceted aspects of the overall developments in the South, notably the political and military aspects, and the prominent role of the STC in this regard, in parallel with the military operations accomplished by our valiant southern forces in defeating terrorist organizations, through the two military operations of “Arrows of the East” and “Arrows of the South”, lauding the brilliant role of the commanders and valiant soldiers in the battlefield in dealing with these organizations, through the painstaking implementation of the assigned tasks.

At the meeting, the administrative body applauded the victories of the southern forces in both military operations in the governorates of Abyan and Shabwa. Similarly, it has commended the role of the members of the National Assembly in appropriating the milieu for the southern forces in those areas, which contributed to achieving victory, praying to Allah the Almighty to bestow His vast mercy and forgiveness on the martyrs and a speedy recovery for the wounded, stressing the importance of preserving these massive victories and huge sacrifices by securing these areas so that terrorism could never resurge or revive therein. At the same time, they have lauded the role of the political leadership in the STC.

In its meeting, the Administrative body has supported the proposed UN-mediated truce, and highlighted the necessity of exposing a clear position by the STC on essentiality of truce-compliancy to the extent to which it provides the elements of peace in the South, and the proactive participation of the STC in the negotiation process, in addition to collecting and supplying the revenues to the Central bank in the capital, Aden and spending in accordance with priorities, to pay accrued-rights and salaries of the southerners that have gone unpaid for years in both civil and military institutions.

Likewise, the meeting emphasized on all governorates of the South and the districts of the Coast of Hadhramaut to support the popular movement in the Valley of Hadramaut and Almahra.

The administrative body stood before the school and university educational situation, its dire straits and the suffering it reels under its weight, as the administrative body has recommended the formation of a committee to assess the situation and provide a vision of effective solutions.

The administrative body, too, enthused about the role of the dialogue and restructuring committees, and demanded for paraphrasing and re-editing the political functions of the National Assembly and updating its documents.

To the end of the meeting, which was attended by Major General Saleh Ali Hasan, head of joint operations in the STC who reviewed the role of military operations in Abyan governorate, the level of success, and the stages of the implementation, affirming the continuing existence of the forces to keep up protecting the liberated areas.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Qassem, Office Director of the Chairman of the National Assembly.
