[su_dropcap]I[/su_dropcap]n a special interview with “Fourth of May”, General Ahmed Said Ben Brik, chairman of the Southern National Assembly said: “During our last visit to Russia and Britain, officials there asserted that the Southern Transitional Council enjoys the delicate political wisdom through dealing with critical issues on the military and political contexts. What we lack today is to administrate the south and this will be achieved at the zero hour which is very soon”. Ben Brik added: “I don’t want to jump over events but there are several surprises that will please the southern people”.
Public Consensus
Ben Brik indicated that the council was formed according to public consensus based on a long history of struggle that reached victory over Al-Houthis and Affash in 2015 war. Concerning US Ambassador’s statement about Yemeni Union, general Ben Brik said: “We discovered the long history of these countries for nearly 129 years in addition to the Russian existence for nearly 50 years. During all this time, several changes, mostly negative, happened in the south and the global system is now taking a new perspective. UAS and Arab League consider all changes related to their peoples, especially what concerns self-determination and liberation. Such changes are named positive and democratic in European countries. For example, breaking up with democracy is a form of democracy, regardless the suffering of the people. A few decades ago, several European countries erupted against their socialist regimen and gained support from major powers and EU. Now we are asking: why did you support these efforts in Europe but now here? We discovered that global trends are moved by common interests in our reality”.
The Southern Message Delivered
Concerning foreign affairs, Ben Brik asserted that strategic visits of president Al-Zubaidi delivered a clear message about the southern people. These visits were positive, on the contrary to what some parties said that the council met irrelevant bodies. But the truth is that the council received direct invitations and the president received about 6 invitations to explain the southern cause. Such visits are preliminary meetings for southern independence.
Concerning foreign opinions about disengagement, Ben Brik said: I don’t want to be hasty in this issue but the future will bring happy surprises for the south. These visits will reveal positive outcomes and we will visit USA, China and France. We should listen only to our reality, not to media talks.
He indicated that the first visit of president Al-Zubaidi, accompanied with the Russian ambassador, is a message to those who know politics. We consider it successful after the visit of president Al-Zubaidi to Moscow. This visit served the southern cause and the real southern people, not residents of five-star hotels.
He added that officials in UK and Russia asserted that the council exerts political wisdom through engaging with military and political issues. What we need is to run the south and this will happen soon.
The Southern Parliament
Concerning the constitution of the national assembly (Southern Parliament), Ben Brik indicated that they discussed with friends about the importance of establishing southern organizations to address their counterparts in other countries. He added that during the visit to Moscow they officially talked with the Russian Parliament “Doma” that draws Russia politics.
Contradicted Measures
Concerning the issuance of IDs to northern citizens who refuged to Aden, Ben Brik said: “This is being discussed now by the council to avoid contradicted measures taken by the legitimacy government. This government is sinking in corruption without any accountability. They take contradicted decisions. Those who run the country and receive oil and tax revenues are fully responsible for this issue”.
Concerning the Legitimacy / Al-Houthi war, he indicated that the legitimacy army is an illusion as Al-Hodeida and northern Al-Dalia would never be liberated unless the security belt troops and the council took the right steps.
Secret Documents
Concerning his previous statements about having secret documents while being in office as governor of Hadhramaut and commander of the first military zone, Ben Brik said: “They negotiated with me to deliver these secret documents that expose serious acts of the government and Al-Eslah party in Hadhramaut coast and valley. These documents are still with me and I will reveal them in the right time soon. These documents clearly show that some units in the first military zone, loyal to Al-Eslah, are supporting ISIS and Al-Qaeda to spread chaos in Aden, Lahj, Abian, Hadhramaut and other southern governments”.
He added: “Everything is under control. We have the right and we control the ground. What was impossible yesterday is possible now”.
As for the place of holding the third round of the national assembly, Ben Brik said: “We will not jump over events but I think it will be held under the umbrella of the southern independent state. we took long steps in this direction”.
Concerning cloned southern components, Ben Brik said that those parties don’t know that we know their intentions and their willingness to dance over all ropes. Our people know them well and can never trust them. these parties should know that we have a close eye on them.
