Ben Brik Receives Head of ICRC Mission

Major General Ahmed Saeed Ben Brik, Chairman of the National Assembly of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), on Wednesday, received Ms. Beatrix Oxli, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), mission in Yemen.

In the meeting, Major General Ben Brik valued the working role of the ICRC in governorates of the whole South and the humanitarian aid it provides in the medical sector, to alleviate the distress of citizens, as well as the active role in establishing Sheikh Mohammed Ben Zayed Hospital in Al Dhale’a governorate, thanking their efforts that will fruitfully and positively be occurred soon.

Major General Ahmed Saeed affirmed that the STC pays much care to work and role of international organizations in the South to improve the situation, stressing readiness of the STC’s leadership to ease all difficulties hindering the performance of active organizations.

In the meeting, chairman of the Assembly give a brief explanation to Ms. Oxli, on the political situation in the general scene, the consequent events and developments that may change the course of current events in the future, and briefly spoke on the outcomes of Riyadh consultations and the general reflections on the southern components and parties.

For his part, Ms. Oxili thanked Major General Ben Brik for the good reception and cooperation of the STC in overcoming difficulties encountering the work of the ICRC and the whole organizations.

To the end of that meeting, Major General Ben Brik highlighted the need of the organization to continue providing cooperation and assistance in areas that face troubles and difficulties in the health sector in governorates of the South, and to consolidate relations between the STC and the ICRC.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Ahmed Qassem, Office Director of the chairman of the Assembly, and Ms.Baha’a Al-Sallami, assistant of the ICRC mission in Yemen.
