Bin Brik Inaugurates Panel Discussion “Promoting a Culture of Dialogue and its Impact on Stability and Political Maturity”

Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Chairman of the National Assembly, inaugurated on Sunday, in the city of Al-Mukalla, a panel discussion held by the Training and Qualification Authority (TQA) of the STC in coordination with the executive body of the local leadership (EBLL) of the STC in Hadramout governorate, under the title “Promoting a culture of dialogue and its impact on stability and political maturity”.

In the panel discussion, which was inaugurated by members of the Presidium of the STC, Mr. Ali Al-Kathiri, Mr. Fadi Baoum, and the head of the TQA of the STC, Dr. Mona Bashraheel, and the head of the EBLL of the STC in Hadramout, Brigadier General Saeed Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees, conveying to them the greetings of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, President of the STC and Vice-Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC), expressing his happiness to be present in this panel that deals with the topic of dialogue that the STC has always projected a deeply-rooted principle, and as evident in President Al-Zubaidi’s sincere call for dialogue with various southern components and personalities with the aim of uniting the southern ranks and strengthening the cohesiveness of southerners to face the challenges that may encounter the future of the South and the aspirations of its people.

Major General Ben Brik affirmed that the STC was successfully able to reflect the principle of the culture of dialogue on the ground, by holding a series of meetings with the various southern forces, overcoming the differences of the past, stressing that the southern goal is one, which is independence and the restoration of the state, which was culminated by convening the consultative meeting of the political components, and followed by the signing of the components on the National Charter to be a constitution document that defines the features of the aspired state of the South, and the components’ joining to the STC came as a crystal clear evidence of embracing the people and all the southern components, and the convening of the sixth session of the Assembly and its closing statement was a concrete reflection of the southern consensus and a fundamental proof to the well-seated approach to the culture of dialogue followed by the STC and the southern components to achieve their supreme goal.

Bin Brik indicated that the people are looking for security and stability, and these are what the STC aimed to maintain through dialogue, as the impact and success of the Southern Dialogue was clearly demonstrated through the great popular support that was felt by the leaders of the STC and the components joining it during the sixth session of the Assembly in Hadramout, asserting the readiness to move from the phase of the revolution to the phase of the state, which requires making all efforts to build, strengthen and provide institutions with competencies in a well-distributed proportion as the STC has begun this process by restructuring its bodies, noting that it will be followed by the process of restructuring the armed forces and other institutions to establish an institutional mechanism in managing the country, wishing all success to the participants in the panel discussion.

Dr. Mona Bashraheel started by welcoming the attendees and stressing the importance of dialogue and its impact on the southern community. She highlighted its significance in maintaining stability, creating awareness, and adopting it as part and parcel of southern culture.

Dr. Bashraheel confirmed that Hadramout has a major share of the training programs and activities in various fields, calling on the participants in the panel to interact with its content and enrich it with fruitful suggestions and recommendations.

Brigadier General Al-Muhammadi, Head of the EBLL of the STC in Hadramout, expressed his happiness at Major General Bin Brik’s paid visit to the headquarters of the EBLL and his participation in the inauguration of the panel discussion on the importance of national dialogue, expressing his thanks to the TQA and its head, Dr. Mona Awad Bashraheel, for their interest in Hadramout and giving its youth, both male and female, their appropriate share of training opportunities within the programs and plans implemented by the TQA in the various governorates of the South.

The panel discussion, in which Dr. Jamal Abu Bakr Abbad delivered a lecture and was moderated by Dr. Tareq Bazra’a, and in which about 50 Hadramout University academicians, media professionals, and political activists participated, defined the nature of dialogue, its objectives and principles, its impact on stability, and the orientations of the STC to enhance and consolidate its culture among societies.

The panel was enriched by the interventions and remarks raised by the participants, who emphasized the importance of the STC to pursue the path of dialogue as a projection of the saying of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, “Whoever does not come to us, we will go to him,” by knocking on the doors of the rest of the components and national figureheads, listening to their views, and identifying their concerns and fears.
