Central Bank Governor Meets New EU Ambassador

The Governor of the Central Bank, Ahmed Ahmed Ghaleb, met at the Central Bank building in Aden the capital with the new European Union Ambassador to Yemen, Patrick Simonet, and his accompanying delegation.
The Governor welcomed the Ambassador at the beginning of his new assignment, wishing him success in his mission. He looked forward to strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Yemen and friendly European Union countries to serve the common interests of both sides. At the same time, the Governor expressed his thanks and appreciation to former Ambassador Gabriel Munuera Vinales for his efforts in promoting relations between the two sides during his tenure, appreciating the support the Central Bank received from the Ambassador.
The Governor also presented the reality of the difficult economic conditions that the Republic of Yemen is going through as a result of the sharp decline in resources after the cessation of oil and gas exports as a result of terrorist militias attacking oil facilities, in addition to the decline in official and humanitarian international aid and its negative repercussions on the living and services of citizens in all governorates of the Republic, including those under the control of the militias.
For his part, the Ambassador expressed his happiness to represent the European Union countries in the Republic of Yemen, stressing the need to make every effort to strengthen relations between the EU countries and Yemen and to mobilize all possible technical and humanitarian support to help the Republic of Yemen overcome the difficult and exceptional conditions.
