Chairman of Supreme Committee for Legal Affairs stresses importance of General Authority for Antiquities and Museums in preserving southern identity

The Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Legal Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council, Dr. Saad Mohammed Saad, stressed the importance of the role played by the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums in preserving the identity of the South, as this role is appreciated by the southern political leadership.
In his meeting with the Head of the General Authority for Museums and Antiquities, Dr. Ahmed bin Ahmed Bataya, Dr. Saad stressed the importance of concerted efforts to preserve and reserve the southern civilizational heritage.
In the meeting, which was attended by Salem Al-Amri, deputy head of the Authority, and Mohammed Ahmed Al-Saqqaf, Director General of the General Authority for Antiquities in the capital, Aden, Dr. Saad got briefed on the work of the Authority and the efforts it is making to preserve the southern identity.
Dr. Bataya reviewed the stages of tampering that affected the historical monuments in the city of Aden in particular and the South in general after the war of 1994, and then after 2015 as a result of the prevailing chaos that followed the war and the absence of authority and state.
Bataya appreciated the efforts made by the Southern Transitional Council to protect archaeological sites and monuments, and to stop their persecution in the governorates of the South.
Bataya pointed out to the importance of the supervision of the General Authority of Antiquities and Museums on efforts to restore archaeological monuments, as it is the competent technical authority and so that antiquities are not damaged during their maintenance by parties that have no experience in this field.
