Chairman of the Southern National Assembly Meets Deputy Director of UN Delegate’s Office for Political Affairs
[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Aden – Exclusive[/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″][su_dropcap]G[/su_dropcap]eneral Ahmed Said Ben Brik, chairman of the Southern National Assembly, met Mr. Masaki Watanabe, deputy director of UN Delegate’s Office for Political Affairs.
Ben Brik expressed his pleasure with the meeting that discussed recent developments in Aden and the in addition to current political steps, especially Jeddah talks, packed by Saudi Arabia South, between the southern transitional council and the legitimacy government.
Ben Brik asserted the council’s support to Efforts of UN delegate to Yemen, Mr. Martin Griffith, and his assistants, to establish peace and reach political settlement according to fair solutions. He also indicated that the council positively interacted with Saudi Arabia’s invitation to talks and is now committed to calm down and cease fire in spite of all repeated violations and escalations of the legitimacy forces, the military wing of Muslim Brotherhood represented in Al-Eslah party.
Ben Brik explained the council’s efforts in normalizing citizens’ lives in all southern governorates through providing them with essentials of life amid obstacles imposed by the so-called legitimacy government to prevent services in addition to abstaining from paying salaries of security and military personnel. He also explained in details the humanitarian situation in the south and efforts of the council to exhaust all plans and conspiracies of terrorist groups under cover of the legitimacy.
He also indicated that escalations in Aden, Shabwa and Abian exposed the existence of internationally wanted terrorists working under cover of the legitimacy. He appreciated the efforts of anti-terrorism troops and security belt forces in Aden in addition to Elites Forces in Hadhramaut and Shabwa in their fight against terrorist groups as they represent extensions of Al-Qaeda and ISIS.
Ben Brik also indicated that the council is in alliance with the Arab Coalition in fighting the Iranian expansion through Al-Houthi militias in addition to partnership with the international society in fighting terrorism.
Mr. Watanabe indicated the importance of Jeddah talks, led by Saudi Arabia, between the council and the government, not only for negotiations but also for citizens themselves. He also indicated that UN is supporting Jeddah talks hoping that it may come out with positive outcomes in addition to all other efforts for the continuation of UN organizations’ work to serve normalizing citizens lives through providing them with services according to international standards.
Lofty Shatara, member of the council’s presidency, and Dr. Salem Al-Shubhi, head of health care committee of the southern national assembly, attended the meeting.
