Department of Human Rights organizes extensive consultative meeting with southern human rights organizations and civil society institutions

The Human Rights Department of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, on Sunday, hosted a consultative meeting with the participation of a number of human rights institutions and civil society organizations.
The meeting witnessed the participation of representatives of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, in which it touched on the work of civil society organizations in the protection of human rights on the one hand, and the support of southern civil society organizations on the human rights side on the other.
The attendees discussed ways to enhance cooperation, establish a joint work mechanism, and create a partnership between the department and organizations, to activate human rights works in the South.
Fadel Al-Jaadi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, said that civil society organizations bear the responsibility of conveying the southern voice to official international institutions and international civil and human rights bodies.
He stressed that the people of the South were subjected to a lot of injustice, persecution and violations from the most basic rights, stressing the need to convey their voice to the international community.
Al-Jaadi added that there are organizations claiming to represent the South and discuss the southern issue abroad without inviting the southerners themselves who are the owners of the issue.
