Department of Thought and Guidance organizes workshop on rationalizing religious discourse

The Department of Thought and Guidance in the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, on Thursday, organized a workshop on “Rationalizing Religious Discourse,” headed by Mr. Fadl Al-Jaadi, Deputy Secretary-General in the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council.
In his speech, at the beginning of the workshop, Al-Jaadi stressed the importance of following moderation and rationalizing religious discourse in line with the moderate approach and combating any extremism in it, according to correct methodological principles and foundations.
The workshop dealt with several papers presented by preachers and imams of mosques in the capital, Aden, who participated in the workshop, which included directions to rationalize religious discourse and how to confront Rafidi thought, as well as the causes of dispersal of discourse and southern thought, and ways to unify it and propose appropriate treatments for it.
The workshop came out with a number of recommendations, most notably was working to rationalize religious discourse towards moderation, confronting extremist ideology and fighting financial and administrative corruption, in addition to establishing an association for preachers and imams of the South.
The workshop urged the attention to scholars and preachers and work on rehabilitating people who work with religion through the establishment of a number of training courses for the process of rationalizing religious discourse.
