Department of Women and Children celebrates International Day of Child Victims of Abuse

The Department of Women and Children in the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council organized, on Monday, in “Aden New” park in the capital, Aden, a festival on the occasion of the International Day of Child Victims of Abuse, under the generous patronage of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Southern Transitional Council, in cooperation and partnership with Child Smile Initiative.

Mrs. Yasmine Musaed, Deputy Head of the Department of Women and Children in the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, delivered a speech at the opening of the ceremony, in which she welcomed the attendees, conveying to them the greetings of President Aidarous Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Southern Transitional Council.

Yasmine Musaed explained that the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council attaches great importance to the children of the south along and across the country, as they are the most important segments of society, and they have been subjected during the past period to many violations.

The festival witnessed the presence of a number of members of local leaders and social figures in the capital, Aden, and a large gathering of families, who enjoyed the singing and theatrical performances presented by a group of young artists.

The festival included an awareness lecture for families delivered by Brigadier General Faris Hajeb, which reviewed the different types of attacks that children may be exposed to in society during armed conflicts.

The ceremony was attended by Dr. Najwa Fadl, advisor to the President of the Southern Transitional Council for Women’s Affairs, and Iman Sheikhan, director of the Women and Children Department in the Executive Authority of the Transitional Council in the capital, Aden.
