Deputy Secretary-General Discusses Means to Enhance Joint Cooperation with European Institute of Peace

Mr. Fadl Al-Gaadi, Deputy Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), member of Presidency of the STC, on Wednesday, at headquarters of the General Secretariat in the capital Aden, met with delegation of the European Institute of Peace (EIP) headed by Mr. Jamie Pleydell-Bouverie, a Senior Programme Officer at the EIP, and Mr. Thanos Petouris, regional Advisor at the EIP to the Yemen team, in the presence of Mr. Lotfi Shatara, member of Presidency of the STC, deputy chairman of the National Assembly.
In the meeting, which was attended by Dr. Bassem Mansour, head of the media department in the General Secretariat of Presidency of the STC, member of the National Southern Media Authority (NSMA), the Deputy Secretary-General welcomed the delegation of the EIP and its visiting to the capital Aden, affirming that the STC supports all efforts of achieving peace, and the South has experienced and exteremely suffered the scourges and ravages of war; and is fully aware of meaning and value of peace, stressing that any peace process in the entire region highly requires granting people of the South the right to self-determination and fulfiling their aspirations to solve the just cause for which they have always been striving and struggling.
Mr. Fadl Al-Gaadi expressed his appreciation for efforts of the EIP, which focus on finding appropriate means to promote conceptions of peace building and create common grounds for dialogue, and this is what the STC has been doing, noting that the South will only be with and for all its people, and is firmly belief in dialogue to fulfil the interest of the South, its cause and people.
The meeting discussed means of joint cooperation between the STC and EIP, and providing technical assistance to bring various views together to strengthen the peace process, in addition to reviewing several topics and matters of common interest.
For their part, the officials of the EIP thanked the Deputy Secretary-General for the good reception, and lauded the vital role played by the STC in boosting the peace process and assisting dialogue, especially through launching the Southern National Dialogue, which reflects the positive orientation of the STC towards employing dialogue as a primary means to achieve peace and unity of the South.
