Deputy Secretary-General of STC Presidency discusses with French ambassador latest developments in liberated governorates

The Deputy Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Mr. Fadhl Al-Jaadi, met on Thursday, in the capital, Aden, with Ambassador Jean-Marie Safa, the Ambassador of the Republic of France to Yemen, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed the political and security developments in the liberated governorates, and the economic and humanitarian developments in them.
The meeting, which was attended by Brigadier General Nasser Al-Saadi, member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, touched on the implemented provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, as well as the efforts led by the United Nations and the permanent members of the Security Council, to stop the war and start a comprehensive peace process with the participation of all actors on the ground.
Al-Jaadi expressed his happiness at Ambassador Safa’s visit to the capital, Aden, and his keenness to hold this meeting with the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council, praising the efforts made by the Republic of France to push the political process sponsored by the United Nations to bring lasting and comprehensive peace in the country.
Al-Jaadi stressed that the Southern Transitional Council responded positively to all initiatives and calls calling for stopping the war and establishing peace, stressing the need for the Council to be involved in the final solution negotiations sponsored by the United Nations, as a key and effective party on the ground.
The Deputy Secretary-General also stressed the need for international forces to make greater efforts to stop the arms smuggling to the Houthi militias, which take place through sea as well as land ports, pointing out that the continued arming of this militia, would complicate efforts to stop the war, and prolong the crisis, and double the suffering of citizens in the South and Yemen as well.
Al-Jaadi noted that the recent military victories of the southern armed forces in Shabwa would push for the success of the negotiations for a comprehensive solution.
For his part, the French ambassador expressed his happiness at visiting the capital, Aden, and holding this meeting with the leadership of the Southern Transitional Council, stressing that his country is keen for peace and stability to prevail in the region through a negotiating process that includes all parties.
The French ambassador stressed the need to complete the implementation of the provisions of the Riyadh Agreement, which was sponsored by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and urged the parties to unite efforts to give priority to the supreme interest of the people, stressing that political stability will inevitably contribute to creating an economic recovery that will reflect positively on the living conditions of citizens and alleviate their suffering.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Mohammed Al-Abadi, Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs of the Southern Transitional Council.
On the French side, the meeting was attended by Ms. Melissa Rahmouni, adviser to the French Ambassador, and Mr. Cyril Kressner, the military attaché at the French Embassy.
