Deputy Secretary-General of Transitional Council inaugurates General Constituent Conference of Southern Trade Unions Federation

The Deputy General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council, Mr. Fadl Mohammad Al-Jaadi, inaugurated on Wednesday, in Aden the capital, the works of the founding general conference of the General Federation of Southern Trade Unions, under the slogan: “To restore the pioneering role of the southern trade union movement”, and under the generous patronage of President Aidaroos Qassem Al-Zubaidi, the President of the Southern Transitional Council.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council delivered a speech at the opening of the conference, conveying the greetings of President Aidaroos Qassem Al-Zubaidi, and his blessing for holding this union conference, and his wishes for success.
Al-Jaadi emphasized that this conference comes after years of neglect, marginalization and injustice in denying the partnership of the South, and the harm, injustice, looting, exclusion and demobilization of its cadres and workers, and their transfer to forcibly retirement, as well as the persecution, arrests, prisoning, and practices of aggression against the citizens of the South.
The Deputy Secretary-General noted that the holding of this conference in light of the difficult conditions the south is going through considered an opportunity to renew the vitality of the trade union movement in the south, and to strengthen its position in defending the issues of southern workers, stressing the Transitional Council’s keenness to support union work and stand by the workers to win for their causes, and their legitimate rights for a decent life.
In the conclusion of his speech, Al-Jaadi wished that the conference would produce results that would further advance the development process and create a trade union movement that represents its members and defends their rights, raises their performance and unites the efforts of the labor and trade union movement to be able to meet the challenges to maintain a secure and stable free south for the benefit of society, and to contribute to the struggles of our people to achieve their aspirations for peace and freedom.
Ahmed Al-Sagheer, head of the Preparatory Committee for the Constituent General Conference of the Federation of Southern Trade Unions, had expressed in a speech that he is happy to hold this conference and to work through its union to restore respect to the southern trade union movement by developing a mechanism and programs for the leadership of the working class to improve its conditions.
Al-Sagheer indicated that the conference is held in a consensual manner, and the organizational procedures for it have been developed in coordination with the heads of the general unions and the preparatory committee, and with the participation of the federations in the southern governorates, so that the fund will be the arbiter, hoping that everyone will help each other out of love for the south and its trade union movement and for what is in the interest of union work.
The founding conference witnessed the presentation of the strength of the central council and the executive office of the federation, as well as the selection of the members of the specialization committees, and the determination of the period of work of the council and the executive office, provided that preparations for an electoral session take place in accordance with the internal system and regulations.
The conference was attended by Ayoub Abu Bakr, Director of the Insurance Office in the capital, Aden, and representatives of trade unions in the southern governorates.
