SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
Dr. Saleh Al-Hajj, Director of the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs (GDFA) of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), received on Monday a delegation from the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue (HD), which included the Yemen and Gulf official at the centre, Mr. Francis Ward, Project Manager, and Ms. Sarah Boukhary, Yemen Project Officer.
The meeting discussed a range of topics and issues of common concern, foremost of which are developments in the comprehensive political process, the current political and economic conditions in the South, and joint action to support peace and consolidate stability.
Dr. Al-Hajj praised the role of the HD Centre in the process of resolving disputes between the parties and the importance of the role of dialogue in resolving all complex issues, expressing the STC’s welcome to open prospects for joint cooperation with the Centre in all fields.
Al-Hajj affirmed the STC’s readiness for dialogue with all responsible parties to build a sustainable peace process, highlighting that there is no comprehensive and sustainable peace except by finding a solution to the just cause of the South by putting a special negotiating framework for it within the ceasefire agreement.
Ms. Boukhary gave a brief overview of the HD centre and its activities in conflict resolution issues between the warring parties, including the ongoing conflict in the South and Yemen, and supported all efforts and endeavours to achieve peace away from the language of violence and weapons.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Anis Al-Sharafi, Deputy Director of GDFA, and Mr. Raafat Al-Alawi, Head of the International Organizations Section in GDFA.
