European parliamentarians in Aden confirm their commitment to supporting women’s empowerment and participation in political and public life

Members of the European Parliament, on Monday evening, met with feminist leaders in the capital, Aden, to discuss ways to support women in reaching decision-making positions and confronting the challenges facing women in the course of human life in general.

During the meeting, the participants discussed a range of issues related to women’s empowerment, including the challenges facing women in reaching decision-making positions, through discrimination based on gender in all aspects of life, including political life. These include facing discrimination in running for elections, and in appointment to leadership positions and employment, and participation in the peace process and stopping war.
The participants also touched on measures that can be taken to support women, such as issuing supportive legislation and educational and awareness-raising initiatives.

The female participants stressed the importance of strengthening the partnership of men and women, respecting equality, implementing women’s rights, confronting the challenges that hinder them and hindering their participation, and empowering women in political and public life and in decision-making positions, as they are common goals that embody true respect for women and human beings in general, and the needs of the development of society and human life.

The feminist leaders called on members of the European Parliament to support efforts aimed at empowering women, representing them in political and economic decision-making positions and involving them in negotiations on the path to just peace, reconstruction and sustainable development.

For their part, members of the European Parliament stressed their commitment to supporting women’s empowerment and taking measures to support women’s representation in decision-making positions, stressing that this meeting comes within the framework of the European Parliament’s efforts to enhance support for women’s participation in political and public life.
