Extended meeting in the capital #Aden discusses mechanisms of raising power capacity for electricity

he Economic Team of the Southern Transitional Council held an extraordinary meeting chaired by Dr. Abdul Nasser Al-Wali, member of the Presidency of the Council, and Dr. Abdel Salam Humaid, head of the economic team and advisor to the President of the Transitional Council for Economic Affairs.The meeting attended by the Director General of Aden Electricity Corporation, Mujib al-Shaabi, the deputy director of Aden Refineries Eng. Saeed Mohammad bin Mohammad, the advisor to the Minister of Water and Environment Nageeb Mohammad Ahmad, the advisor to Hadramout Center Obaid Mohammad Baqis, and members of the economic team, in which the meeting discussed the deterioration of the electric power service and its negativite implications on the lives of the citizens of the capital Aden and neighboring governorates.
The Director of Aden Electricity Corporation, Mujib Al-Shaabi, presented in the meeting a detailed explanation on the reasons for the collapse of the electricity system during the recent period, including the exit of the Qatari station from service with a total capacity of 60 megawatts, and Al-Saadi plant with a capacity of 60 megawatts also, in addition to the lack of fuel needed to run the generation stations.
Al-Shaabi warned of the increasing deterioration of the electrical system in case the situation continues as it is, calling for the provision of fuel to ensure the continuity of the electrical current.
The meeting approved a set of immediate measures to improve generating capacity, foremost of which is the exceptional restarting of commercial stations that have been suspended from work, and the setting of a clear schedule to address the financial claims of station owners with the government.
