Government agencies stop their dealings with banks controlled by Houthi

SMA NEWS – ADEN THE CAPITAL
The Governor of the Central Bank in the capital, Aden, Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Mabaki, said that government agencies will stop all dealings with the banned banks, including disbursing salaries.

Al-Mabaki confirmed in a press conference that the banned banks would be given room to deal with the public until further notice, as the Central Bank is a guarantor of depositors’ deposits.

He threatened harsher measures if the banned banks continued to deal with the Iran-backed Houthi militia, through gradual sanctions.

The Governor of the Central Bank revealed that the Central Bank’s decision had reached all banking authorities and international banks, explaining that they would not deal with banks that are under the control of a group designated as terrorist.
