Governor of Aden the capital calls on UN agencies to focus on sustainable development

The Governor of the capital, Aden, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, called on UN agencies to focus on sustainable development projects in conjunction with the emergency humanitarian response plans of the United Nations programs.
This came during his meeting with the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator, David Gresley, and a number of heads and representatives of United Nations agencies and organizations at the public office in the capital, Aden, in which Lamlas referred to coordination and partnership mechanisms between the two sides.
The meeting discussed the preparation of programs and plans for humanitarian and development interventions for the years 2023 and 2024, in line with the priorities of the basic and necessary needs of the capital, Aden, and proposals to address the repercussions of the flow of African migrants to the capital, Aden.
The governor, Lamlas, said that the situation of displacement and illegal immigration reflects great burdens and challenges on the local and central authorities in light of unstable economic conditions.
The attendees stressed the intensification of evacuations of migrants and facilitating procedures for their return to their countries, preparation for a regional conference for affected countries linked to illegal immigration operations from the continent of Africa, and arranging the conditions of local displaced persons and refugees in general.
