Governor of Aden the Capital meets with representative of Office of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

The governor of Aden the capital, Mr. Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, received in his office on Sunday, Mr. Reno Detal, representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Yemen.
The Governor got briefed by Mr. Dital on the tasks of the Office of the High Commissioner, its plans, and its current and future projects in Aden the capital.
The meeting also discussed the relationship of the local authority with the commission, and the ways to develop it to promote and protect the civil rights of the citizens, residents and visitors to the capital Aden, especially at this stage in which the country is witnessing armed conflicts, as well as the conditions of a number of community groups such as the marginalized, immigrants, and displaced persons, women and other community groups, which require attention and protection of their rights in Aden.
The governor Lamlas assured that “the city of Aden was and still has its arms open to all races, nationalities, and religions, and it’s a safe incubator for them, as it has been famous for hundreds of years for embracing citizens from all parts of the world, and everyone lived in it safely and enjoyed all rights, just like its sons without discrimination, and it is still today as evidenced by the existence of Hundreds of thousands of African refugees and internally displaced persons from all governorates are treated well, despite the burden that their presence has placed on the services that have reflected on the work of the authorities in the capital.
The governor pointed out to that “the decline in services and their torture of citizens, such as electricity, is a violation of human rights, and this is what happens in Aden as a result of the government’s failure to fulfill its responsibilities towards the citizens of the city.”
For his part, Mr. Dital praised the decision of the Governor of Aden to assign three women to senior executive positions in the governorate, indicating that this decision “met with great satisfaction with the international organization and bodies concerned with women.” He described it as “a historic decision that will contribute to empowering women in public office, and the participation in decision-making and managing the affairs of the society, and that the governor of Aden the capital, “ did something that the state overlooked by not including women in the government formation. ”
The meeting discussed a number of issues, such as services and the role of security in protecting people and their human and civil rights, and the impact of stopping judicial work on society, and the negative effects of the Corona pandemic, as well as the conditions of the central prison and other issues.
