Governor of Central Bank of Yemen Meets US Ambassador to Yemen and Discusses Monetary and Financial Conditions and Deteriorating of Yemeni Riyal

[su_label type=”info”]SMA News – Central Bank of Yemen – Exclusive [/su_label][su_spacer size=”10″] Dr. Mohamed Zemam, Governor of Central Bank of Yemen met US Ambassador to Yemen, Mr. Mathew Toiler to discuss monetary and financial condition in Yemen including deterioration of Yemeni Riyal and how to help the bank through the meetings of the economic quadrat. The meeting discussed measures taken by the bank including financing from non-inflated sources, especially after increasing interest rates.
US ambassador appreciated the bank’s mechanisms for issuing reports and transparency when dealing with revenues and expenses. The ambassador asserted US support to the bank’s efforts and Us willingness to finance the project for fortifying organizational structure and infrastructure of the bank in all Yemeni governorates according the World Monetary Fund’s project.
The upcoming meeting of the economic quadrat was set by the end of November 2018 to discuss World Monetary Fund’s report and agree on supporting the bank and Yemeni Riyal. On the other hand, governor of Central Bank of Yemen participated in “Desert Davos” conference held in Riyadh from 23 to 25 of October 2018.
