Governor of the capital, Aden: Smart card project lays foundations of the e-government

Mr. Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, Governor of the capital, Aden, during a meeting held on Sunday, with Major General Sanad Jamil, Head of the Civil Status Authority, and Major General Mutahar Al-Shuaibi, Director of Aden Security, called for activating the smart card project, controlling identity, and laying the foundations for electronic government.
During the meeting, Lamlas called for cooperation between the concerned authorities and to transform the project into a tangible reality.
Governor Lamlas was briefed on the requirements of the smart card system and the establishment of the project and infrastructure, through “biometric” verification systems, fingerprints and images and national ID systems, with encryption to secure data, and a card containing a chip to store information, card diagnostic systems and machines, and provide networking.
The meeting discussed the benefits of the smart card as a secure, tamper-proof means, in addition to securing the information stored in the chip with an encryption system, against tampering and tampering.
The smart card can be used in several applications, in addition to the possibility of expanding the services that a citizen can obtain through a flexible means.
The project benefits the state by reducing the cost of computing and reducing data duplication, in addition to expanding the services provided by service institutions.
