Hadhrami People Holds Rally of ‘Indigenous Identity of the South’ Million-Person Event Commemorating October Revolution Anniversary in Seiyun City

The city of Seiyun in Hadhramaut Governorate witnessed the largest rally of Hadhrami people in an unprecedented display of cohesiveness at the million-person march, themed “Indigenous Identity of the South,” to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the October 14 Revolution, which was called for by the local leadership executive body (LLEB) of the STC in Hadhramaut Governorate.
The rallied people in the major event waved flags of the South and photos of STC’s leadership, chants echoed throughout the gathering and expressed their unwavering commitment to liberating the Wadi (Valley) and Sahara (Desert) areas of Hadramaut, adherence to the identity of the South, and rejection of any North guardianship or interference in Hadramaut’s affairs.
In the major public celebrative event, which began with reciting verses from the Holy Qur’an and the national anthem of the South, and was attended by Mr. Ahmed Al-Rabizi, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Advisors in the STC, Mr. Ali Haitham Al-Ghareeb, a member of the STC’s Presidium, delivered a speech at a massive rally in Hadramaut conveyed greetings of President Aidarous Qassem Al-Zubaidi to all the attendees on the occasion of the October Revolution anniversary, emphasizing that the million-person event “Indigenous Identity of the South” from Ahqaf and the first people of Aad, Hadhramaut, sends a clear message of the adherence of the people of the South to the goal of restoring the identity and the state of the South and rejecting any attempts to undermine its struggle.
In his address, Mr. Al-Ghareeb highlighted Hadhramaut’s pivotal role and the significant contributions of its people in the first and second phases of the Southern liberation struggle, underscored their staunch opposition to Sanaa’s regional hegemony and the occupation of the South, praised the ultimate sacrifices made by Hadhramaut’s blessed martyrs, and marked a new chapter in the fight for freedom, affirming Hadhramaut’s central role in shaping the history of liberating the South.
Brigadier General Saeed Ahmed Al-Muhammadi, head of the LLEB in Hadhramaut Governorate, also gave a speech in which he said: “Indeed, Hadhramaut deserves to be free, and its people deserve to manage their own affairs,” emphasized the importance of demanding Hadhramaut’s rights in various administrative, security, and military fields, and called on the people of Hadhramaut to join hands and stand together to achieve their aspirations, stating, “We must draw strength from our illustrious history of struggle and the sacrifices of our heroic martyrs, and it is an unrelenting struggle until the liberation of every inch of land of the South.”
Al-Muhammadi praised the sacrifices of the Hadrami people and the South in general, saying: “We face great challenges, but with our unity and sterling will, we will be able to seize our rights. We must draw strength from our bright history of struggle and from the sacrifices of our heroic martyrs. It is a long journey, but we are confident that we will achieve our goals of freedom and dignity.”
Then Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Malik Al-Zubaidi, Deputy Head of the Assistant LLEB in the Valley of Hadhramaut, delivered a speech in which he stressed the importance of Hadhramaut’s autonomous decision, saying: “We are here to tell everyone, inside and outside Hadhramaut, “We will not tolerate any attempts of hegemony or have guardianship over us, and the voice of Hadhramaut is your voice, loyal people who are here today.”
Mr. Al-Zubaidi added, “Our goal is full liberation and the declaration of the federal state of the South, and we will not betray the ultimate sacrifices of our blessed martyrs who gave their precious souls to for the cause of freedom.”
Al-Zubaidi called on the Arab coalition countries to support the aspirations of the people of Hadhramaut towards achieving their goals, stressing that the STC is the legitimate representative of the aspirations of the Hadhrami people.
Furthermore, a patriotic poem was delivered by the poet, Ramadan Ba-Aukaim, that acquired the approbation of all attendees and focused on the proudness of the identity of the South and the sacrifices of the Southerners in their pursuit of freedom. The poem infused the atmosphere with enthusiasm and a sense of belonging, igniting the passions of the rally and increasing their engagement with the celebrative event.
The major event concluded with the issuance of a final statement, in which the rallied-masses underscored their adherence to the identity of the South and its uneavering support for the demands of Hadrami people to break free from perceived constraints and to reclaim their legitimate rights. The statement emphasized the need to reject any North interference or guardianship over Hadhramaut’s affairs and to preserve its cohesiveness. The rally reaffirmed their full mandate to the political leadership, led by President Aidarous al-Zubaidi, to move forward in building the independent federal state of the South.
The statement highlighted the importance of empowering Hadramaut’s people to manage their own affairs, including full control over their oil revenues and local resources, to achieve sustainable development that directly benefits the citizens. It also referred to the need to strengthen the role of the liaison committee and adopt the proposed matrix of solutions to address the political, economic, and service-related issues in the governorate, ensuring justice and equality for all Hadramaut citizens.
The statement further emphasized the importance of supporting the Hadrami Elite Forces (HEF) in assuming full security responsibilities across Hadramaut and expelling any forces posing a threat to Hadramaut’s stability. It called for the end of internal disputes among local parties and reconcile their differences, as well as the restructuring of executive authorities to create a more equitable power-sharing arrangement among the various Hadrami forces, stressing the need to preserve the social fabric and work together to realize the aspirations of the South.
