SMA NEWS – ATAQ
Scattered rain, on Saturday, fell on large parts of Shabwa Governorate as part of the effects of the weather depression that the country is witnessing.
Rainfall was concentrated in the districts of Ataq, Bayhan, Asilan, Ain, Markha, Nassab, Jardan, Al Rawda, and Arma, where rainfall amounts ranged between light and medium.
The rain caused torrents to flow through reefs and valleys, and also led to a rise in water levels in some dams and water barriers.
The Director General of Ataq, Mr. Abdullah Saleh Al-Khalaifi, explained that parts of the district witnessed heavy rains and the flow of torrents in a number of reefs and valleys, the most important of which are Wadi Khamar and the White Mountain, in addition to the filling of water barriers, indicating that no human or material damage was recorded in this area.
Al-Khalaifi confirmed that the local authority in the district, in cooperation and coordination with the Public Works Office within the plan of the emergency committee in the governorate, took a number of precautionary measures by removing obstacles in the flood channels, in addition to identifying emergency places for shelter in case the effect of the depression develops and leads to huge damages.
