Human Rights Department of STC issues its report on humanitarian situation in South during first half of 2021

The Human Rights Department of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council (STC) issued its human rights report on the humanitarian situation in the governorates of the South for the first half of the year 2021, under the supervision of the member of the Presidency of the Southern Transitional Council and the official in charge of the human rights file, lawyer Niran Sooki.
The report reviewed the general context of the humanitarian situation in the governorates of the South during the period January 1 to June 30, 2021.
The methodology followed by the report, in addition to the general statistics of violations during the reporting period, the facts of those violations and their legal description.
The report dealt with the violations carried out by Houthi militia that accompanied the military operations launched by the militia on the northern borders of the governorates of Al-Dhalea, Lahj, and Mukayras district in Abyan governorate, noting that the elements of this militia committed a number of violations against civilians, children and women, using snipers, mines, and shelling homes with artillery. As the number of incidents of violations committed by the Houthi militia against southerners during the reporting period reached (57), violations distributed as follows:
(10) dead, including two children and two women.
– (15) injuries, including (3 children and 8 women). (3) destruction of houses. (3) destruction of trucks (two cars and a bike) – (4) explosions of mines. (1) destruction of premises (Habil Al-Abdi School). (1) child rape.
The report also included violations of the Yemeni legitimate forces and the terrorist Islah party in the governorates of Shabwa, Hadramout, Lahj, and Socotra.
The number of violations incidents committed by the Yemeni government forces and the terrorist Brotherhood’s party forces during the reporting period reached to (67) violations, which are: (11) deaths, (14) injuries, (97) arrests, and (6) kidnappings. (3) assault. (4) administrative abuse. (1) destroying cars. (1) threatening. (2) raiding. (4) assault.
The report also dealt with violations committed by terrorist organizations (Al-Qaeda and ISIS) backed by the Brotherhood’s Islah Party.
The number of violations committed by terrorist organizations supported by the terrorist Islah party against the people of the South during the reporting period are about (49) violations incidents, which resulted in .. (41) deaths, including (1 woman). (65) injuries, including (a child) (3 women). (8) destruction of vehicles. (2) destruction of houses. (3) kidnapping. (1) premises bombing (Balhaf oil facility).
The report recommended that all international and local organizations condemn and punish those who commit these crimes against the people of the South.
